Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen within The Navigo Rehabilitation Service for a Support Worker

Are you passionate about helping others regain their independence? We are seeking an empathetic and motivated Rehabilitation Support Worker to join our expanding multidisciplinary team. Working across community and inpatient settings, you will collaborate closely with Occupational Therapists, Therapy Assistants, Psychologists, Nurses, Social Workers, Support Workers, and Psychiatrists to provide short and long term reablement and rehabilitation programs

We are only interested in delivering services that we would be happy for our own families to use.

Main duties of the job

This role is focussed on spending time with our individuals and as such it is a privileged role that gives you the opportunity to make a real difference to peoples lives.

The role will support the multi-disciplinary team to delivery individualised care packages to a small group of individuals with both mental health needs and/or a learning difficulties, who are either stepping down from low secure and locked rehabilitation placements or who are local individuals requiring assessment and treatment for their enduring mental ill health.

The aim of the post is to support recovery, independence, quality of life and well-being, through instilling hope and optimism in every individual so that they can reach their full potential.

This role is ideal for those wanting to gain experience working within mental health and to strive towards delivering person centred, holistic, recovery orientated care.

Job description Job responsibilities

This role is ideal for those wanting to gain experience working within mental health and to strive towards delivering person centred, holistic, recovery orientated care.

JOB ROLE

Direct Support: Assisting with daily activities, including prompting and/or assisting personal hygiene (washing/dressing), eating, drinking, budgeting, cooking and mobilising in the community.

Therapeutic Engagement: Spending therapeutic time with individual, building trust, and engaging them in recreational or diversional activities to promote recovery.

Safety & Observation: Maintaining individual safety through observations, which may include one-to-one monitoring and using de-escalation techniques for individuals showing distress or challenging behaviour.

Documentation: Recording basic information accurately, nutrition and observed changes in a individual's physical or mental health status.

Practical Assistance: Supporting individuals with life skills like managing a home, shopping, or using public transport, participation in community activities; to support their independence.

Co-Facilitate: to co-facilitate group interventions within the scope of individuals personalised therapy plan

Person Specification

Knowledge Essential

You should be able to demonstrate an interest and passion for mental health

Desirable

A keen interest in mental health as evidenced by reading on the subject Mental health First Aid training An awareness of Health and Safety in the workplace Working knowledge of the benefits and housing systems.

Qualifications Essential

No qualifications required for this entry level post You will be required to complete medications administration training in your first 3 months and complete the care certificate within your first 2 years

Desirable

A basic knowledge/understanding of and passion for supporting those with Mental Health needs Some understanding of the Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act Medications administration training

Additional Criteria Essential

Excellent communication skills Ability to respond to the individual rights/needs/opinions of individuals Ability to maintain a safe environment for individuals/ carers/staff Excellent written and verbal communication skills Standard keyboard skills
