Are you looking to develop your expertise within a specialist clinical role? We are seeking a talented and motivated pharmacist to join the Outpatient Parenteral Antimicrobial Therapy (OPAT) team at University Hospitals Birmingham, based at Birmingham Heartlands Hospital.

Main duties of the job

We are seeking a confident and enthusiastic clinical pharmacist with strong communication skills and a commitment to improving patient care through the effective use of their knowledge and experience.

You will undertake a patient-facing role within the specialty, working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team (MDT) and contributing to the delivery of clinics. Confidence in independent prescribing is essential for this role.

OPAT is a rapidly evolving service at UHB, offering opportunities to support service development, lead and implement change, and contribute to Cost Improvement Programmes (CIPs) within the specialty and wider department. You will also be encouraged to undertake audits and Quality Improvement Projects (QIPs), with opportunities to present findings locally and more widely.

You will join a large, specialist pharmacy team working across multiple sites, collaborating closely with colleagues at your base and across the wider organisation. Ongoing support and mentorship from experienced pharmacists will be provided to aid your professional development.

Qualifications Essential

*4 year vocational Masters degree in pharmacy (or equivalent) *Independent prescribing qualification *Post-graduate clinical pharmacy qualification or equivalent experience *Working towards Level I Faculty Membership with the RPS *Membership of the General Pharmaceutical Council *General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) accredited independent prescriber

Desirable

*Evidence of Continuing Professional Development in Infection Management and OPAT e.g Future Learn MOODLEs *Completion of NHS Leadership Programmes e.g. Edward Jenner Programme etc

Experience Essential

*Significant post-registration hospital clinical pharmacy experience *Previous participation in multi-disciplinary team *Demonstrates commitment and enthusiasm for providing high quality pharmaceutical care *Experience of teaching/presenting to other healthcare professionals/patients *Commitment to own Continuing Professional Development *Possesses relevant clinical knowledge in infection management and OPAT *Knowledge of national initiatives and guidelines, e.g. NICE, NSF *Possesses knowledge of available resources to answer Medicines Information queries *Able to work with drug budget information *Demonstrates good knowledge of infection management and OPAT and current issues *Previous involvement in clinical trials

Desirable

*Experience of infection management, community services or OPAT *Demonstrates commitment and enthusiasm for providing high quality pharmaceutical care in the specialities of infection management and OPAT. *Previous line management/ mentor/ supervisor experience
