Job summary

An exciting and rewarding opportunity has arisen for a motivated and experienced nurse to join the Urology team as a full-time Band 7 Clinical Nurse Specialist within Glangwili General Hospital, Carmarthen and across the Health Board.

This pivotal role offers the chance to make a meaningful impact on patient care by delivering a high-quality, specialist urology nursing service. The post holder will provide expert clinical advice, coordinate complex patient pathways, and act as a key point of contact for patients navigating their diagnostic and treatment journey. Working collaboratively within a dynamic multidisciplinary team, the successful candidate will contribute to the continuous development and improvement of urology services, ensuring care is safe, effective, and truly patient-centred.

As an autonomous practitioner, the Clinical Nurse Specialist will utilise advanced clinical assessment and decision-making skills to support patients across the urology pathway, while also providing leadership, guidance, and expertise to colleagues. This role offers an excellent opportunity to further develop advanced practice skills and lead on key areas of service delivery and innovation.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will play a key role in delivering a high-quality, specialist urology nursing service, ensuring patients receive safe, effective, and compassionate care throughout their clinical pathway. Key responsibilities include:

Providing expert clinical advice, guidance, and emotional support to patients and their families across a range of urology pathways, ensuring a personalised and patient-centred approach

Undertaking comprehensive assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care in line with current evidence-based practice, national guidance, and local protocols

Acting as a dedicated point of contact for patients, coordinating care across multidisciplinary teams to ensure timely access to investigations, treatment, and follow-up

Contributing to service development, audit, and quality improvement initiatives, supporting the continuous enhancement of urology services and patient outcomes

Delivering education, guidance, and specialist support to nursing colleagues and the wider multidisciplinary team, promoting high standards of clinical practice

This role offers the opportunity to influence patient pathways, enhance service delivery, and contribute to ongoing improvements within urology services.

We are looking for a highly motivated and compassionate nurse with significant urology experience, strong clinical knowledge, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The successful candidate will be confident working independently, while also playing an active and supportive role within the wider CNS team.
