Job summary We are seeking a motivated and experienced Speech and Language Therapist to join our innovative, supportive team working with children and young people with communication needs in special school settings across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. This is a Bank role offering 22.5 hours per week (3 days or equivalent).
This is a Band 6 position requiring proven experience in assessment, diagnosis and intervention for a range of communication needs. The successful candidate will demonstrate effective caseload management and contribute to service development. The role also involves providing guidance, support and learning opportunities to colleagues, including Therapy Support Workers.

A recognised Speech and Language Therapy qualification and relevant experience are essential. Applications are welcomed from current Band 6 therapists and Band 5 therapists ready to progress, with evidence of experience supporting children with diverse communication needs in special school environments.

Main duties of the job The post holder will assess, diagnose, and deliver evidence-based interventions for children and young people with significant and complex communication needs. You will plan, implement and evaluate therapy programmes, ensuring outcomes are effective and child-centred.
You will communicate complex and sensitive information clearly to families, education staff and other professionals, adapting your approach to meet individual needs.
Working collaboratively across a range of settings, you will promote positive outcomes through partnership working with parents, carers, schools and multidisciplinary teams.
You will be responsible for organising and prioritising your own workload, and where appropriate supporting the work of others, to ensure efficient and high-quality service delivery.
The role requires maintaining up-to-date clinical skills, knowledge and competence, ensuring practice is informed by current evidence and best practice standards.
