Job summary Leeds Community Healthcare NHS trust are seeking a motivated, enthusiastic, and flexible team member who has proven competence in managing their own Dysphagia caseload. We are looking for a suitably trained SLT who has a Dysphagia qualification and who is highly experienced in working with a Paediatric Dysphagia caseload. The post is for a highly skilled and experienced Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to join our city wide Community feeding team - as part of the Leeds Children's Speech and Language Therapy Service. The post holder will be paediatric dysphagia trained with significant experience with diagnosing, managing and supporting the eating and drinking needs of neonates and infants as well as of children up to the age of 19. The post is for 0.8wte (30 hours per week) - we would be flexible to consider job shares or part time work. Main duties of the job
You will provide assessment, diagnosis and intervention for patients with Dysphagia from birth-19 years old. The Community Feeding Team is a city-wide service, and you will be expected to carry out home visits, across a wide geographical area, alongside visits to Educational settings as required. You will work within a small team of SLTs of varying levels of experience and you will be expected to provide support/supervision for colleagues and assist the Clinical Lead in managing the needs of the service. You will be expected to provide care for the most challenging/complex/ youngest children within our varied caseload. You will work within the wider MDT, liaising with a range of professionals including Medical Teams and Dietitians (within LCHT and LTHT) and linking with our LTHT SLT colleagues for attendance at Video fluoroscopies. You will be highly experienced in working with a Paediatric Dysphagia caseload. Experience in working with infants and young babies as well as children and young people with a wide range of feeding and swallowing needs is essential and experience of working with neonates is desirable. You will have excellent time management skills, demonstrate leadership qualities within the team and be able to manage a fast-paced working environment where high quality care is the focus
