The Special Care Baby Unit on the Isle of Wight has an exciting opportunity for a Band 7 Family Integrated Care Lead to join our friendly and supportive team.
As a designated Level 1 Neonatal unit we have four special care cots which provide care to babies born from 32 weeks gestation. In addition, we provide critical care and stabilisation for sick newborn and preterm babies of any gestation prior to their transfer to tertiary neonatal services for on-going critical care. We also work in conjunction with Maternity Services to prevent the unnecessary separation of babies and their parents, providing care for babies who require additional support, but do not need admission to the Neonatal unit, in a dedicated Transitional Care facility.

Main duties of the job
Work collaboratively across all professional and organisational boundaries, to assess, promote, and support a Family Integrated culture across all aspects of neonatal care. Work in collaboration with families at all stages of their neonatal journey and afterwards to ensure their voices are heard, represented, and integrated into all aspects of service development. Act as a strong advocate embedding the ethos of 'parents as partners in care' -empowering staff to educate and support parents to be fully involved in provision of care and decision-making.

Person Specification
Qualifications and role specific knowledge Essential
Registered Nurse (RN) Adult/Child Branch/Registered Midwife First level degree in Health Sciences or equivalent Neonatal Qualified in Specialty (QIS) or equivalent experience Significant experience working as a band 6 within a Neonatal Unit Experience with promoting FIcare practice. Leadership / Management experience Quality Improvement project/audit experience
