About this role

Job summary

This development post is an opportunity to become involved with MHST to deliver timely and evidence-based help to children, young people and their families within the school setting.Postholders begin the training on Band 5 and once qualified progress to the Band 6 role.

For the first year of the post will undertake the LIST course with University of Northampton alongside all aspects of the EMHP/CWP role. You will be overseeing and supervising clinical staff to support their professional development in individual and group supervision/reflective practice and clinical skills. You will provide formal and informal education, training and supervision to other members of the team and other disciplines. You will work therapeutically with children and their families, providing support and treatment.

MHSTs will deliver evidence based interventions, supporting emotional wellbeing, primarily in an educational setting. Under your supervision and support staff will be delivering full assessments of care needs, risk assessment and evidence based interventions.

You will maintainresponsibility for the team caseload; overseeing referrals and the allocation of clients. You will also manage a clinical role and/or a caseload.

You will be responsible for establishing and maintaining team systems and processes for the effective operation of the team including outcome measurements, audit and annual service policy review.

Person Specification

QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING Essential

Successful completion of HEE funded PG DIP CWP or EMHP with significant post qualifying experience Current Professional Registration (BPS or BABCP)

EXPERIENCE Essential

Minimum of two years post qualifying / registration experience in mental health care including mental health assessment and risk assessment Use of therapeutic interventions within mental health settings i.e. 1:1, counselling, family therapy and group work Experience of assessing, planning, co-ordinating and managing CYP with mental health problems in a community setting Experience of working in or closely with education settings

Desirable

Experience in supervising EMHP's/CWP's

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES Essential

Skilled in the assessment of clinical risk and developing and communicating appropriate risk management plan Skills of assessing, planning and evaluating care, for CYP with mental health needs

Desirable

Responsibility for supporting and/or supervising trainee EMHPs/CWPs or other clinical staff
