About this role

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly skilled Professional & Clinical Lead Occupational Therapist to join our dynamic Inpatient Stroke Service at Bodmin Hospital.

As a senior member of the Stroke Unit Therapy team, you will provide professional and clinical leadership, ensuring high standards of assessment, intervention and patient-centred care. This is a pivotal role where you will be accountable for the professional and clinical performance of stroke therapy staff, helping to shape and develop a responsive, safe and effective service.

Main duties of the job

In this leadership position, you will:

Provide professional and clinical leadership to the Stroke Unit Therapy team. Ensure high-quality, evidence-based assessment and treatment for stroke patients and their families/carers. Work across a seven-day service, supporting consistent and effective care delivery. Collaborate with the senior management team to deliver services aligned with national targets, local priorities and performance indicators. Maintain your own clinical practice, managing a highly complex caseload and utilising advanced specialist clinical skills. Contribute to Trust-wide AHP leadership as part of the professional leadership structure. Coordinate and support undergraduate and post-qualification learning, CPD opportunities and development across the service line. Represent stroke therapy at operational and corporate meetings.

Person Specification

Role requirement Essential

Evidence of post graduate training in specialist assessment and treatment approaches for people who have had a stroke Experience in a stroke rehabilitation setting Experience of supervising other qualified staff Masters level qualification or equivilent experience Evidence of ongoing continuing professional development

Desirable

Qualification in coaching and mentoring Experience of research and audit

Skills and Aptitude Essential

Awareness and understanding of current national stroke guidelines Demonstrate the ability to deliver service in line with evidence based practice and clear outcome measures Demonstrate the ability to establish effective working relationships with staff and partner agencies Demonstrate the ability to prioritise own, others and service workload

Knowledge and abilities Essential

Caseload management including highly complex cases In depth knowledge of professional standards and code of conduct for occupational therapy

Personal qualities Essential

Highly motivated and focused Excellent interpersonal skills

Ability to travel independently when required
