Job summary
This is a post for a fourth Consultant Clinical Neurophysiologist at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The Trust acts as the focus for Neurophysiology services in the whole of Lancashire and South Cumbria. In addition to the 390,000 resident populationsof Preston, Chorley and South Ribble, the Trust also provides Neurophysiology services for a wider population of 1.6 million.

Main duties of the job
You will be based at the Royal Preston Hospital and will be expected to have both EMG and EEG sessions. There will be a commitment to both adult and paediatric neurophysiology.
The department has an Intra-operative Monitoring Service which is mainly run by the Clinical Physiologists but may require Consultant input periodically. Development of Video-telemetry service is still under consideration.
Some of your duties will include:
- Specifically adopt, in conjunction with colleagues, an active role in the planning, development and delivery of the Neurophysiology Service for the Directorate.
- Provide direct input to patients, contribute to multi-disciplinary teams and contribute to the co-ordination of care as appropriate for patients within Preston and Chorley Hospitals.
- Assume a continuous commitment to patients as appropriate, even if employed less than full-time and ensure that adequate arrangements are made for leave and off duty periods.
- Promote high professional standards of clinical practice, both through direct patient involvement and by the maintenance of continuing professional development.
- Exercise the freedom to develop specialist elements of the services to reflect perceived priorities within available resources.
