Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated registered nurse to join the Dermatology Service as a Band 7 Skin Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) based at City Health Campus, Sheldon Block.
This is a key role within the skin cancer service, providing expert clinical care and acting as a Key Worker for patients across the cancer pathway. The post holder will manage a specialist caseload, delivering advanced clinical assessment, coordinating care, and supporting patients from diagnosis through treatment and follow-up.
The role also contributes to service development, education and quality improvement, ensuring care is delivered in line with national cancer standards and best practice.
Main duties of the job Manage a specialist caseload of patients with skin cancer, delivering advanced assessment and clinical decision-making. Act as a Key Worker, ensuring continuity, coordination and personalised care throughout the patient pathway. Provide expert advice on symptom management, treatment pathways and patient supportSupport timely progression through the cancer pathway, working closely with the multidisciplinary team (MDT)Contribute to MDT preparation, coordination and follow-up of agreed care plansDeliver nurse-led clinics and support outpatient activity where appropriate. The post holder will be responsible for the ongoing management and development of the Skin Cancer CNS service, including leading on specialist clinical practice, supporting pathway coordination and contributing to service improvement across the Trust.
Working collaboratively across hospital and community settings, the role focuses on delivering high-quality, patient-centred care, including holistic assessment, coordination of care, education and support for patients and the wider clinical team. The post holder will also support clinical governance, audit and research, ensuring services are aligned with national cancer standards and best practice guidance.
The successful candidate will demonstrate strong clinical leadership, advanced communication skills and the ability to work autonomously while contributing effectively as part of the multidisciplinary team.
