Job summary
We are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity for two committed, compassionate, and adaptable Registered Dental Nurses to join our expanding Community Dental Service. We are looking for motivated individuals with strong clinical, communication, and interpersonal skills who are dedicated to delivering highquality care across our busy clinics in South Tyneside, Sunderland, and Gateshead.
As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will work collaboratively with dentists, dental therapists, and administrative colleagues to provide safe, effective, and patientcentred care. You will contribute to an excellent experience for a diverse patient population, including individuals with additional needs, dental anxiety, or complex medical conditions.
This is a varied and rewarding role that includes travel between community clinic sites, hospitals, care homes, and patients homes, supporting service delivery across the region.
Main duties of the job
As an experienced member of the dental team, you will provide essential chairside support and carry out a range of clinical and administrative duties to ensure the smooth and efficient running of our dental clinics. The post holder will support clinicians in delivering highquality treatment for both adults and children, including patients who are medically compromised or have additional needs such as learning disabilities or dental anxiety.
You will contribute to a wide variety of clinical activities across our community dental sites, providing assistance for routine and complex procedures. The role also includes supporting general anaesthetic sessions in theatre, helping to maintain the highest standards of safety and patient care.
You may additionally be involved in screening programmes, epidemiology, and research activities, while adhering to all relevant policies, procedures, and infection prevention standards.
Although you will be allocated a base location, flexibility is essential. You will work across multiple clinics within South Tyneside, Sunderland, and Gateshead to support service delivery. This is a MondaytoFriday role, requiring adaptability and a commitment to providing excellent care across the region.

Qualifications Essential
Dental Nurse qualification that enables registration with the General Dental Council i.e. NVQ Level 3, Level 3 Diploma in Dental Nursing or Dental Nursing National Certificate in Dental Nursing / Gained entry onto GDC register via grand-parenting (pre 2008) Registration with the General Dental Council.
Desirable
Post qualification in Special Care dentistry, Conscious sedation, Radiography (Post holder will be required to gain post qualification in order to meet service needs within 3 years)
