Job summary
Kettering General Hospital are looking to recruit an SHO on a fixed term basis, initially for12 months. Contract to be reviewed for extension / permanent post after 12 months.
The successful candidate will provide patient care for the obstetric and gynaecological specialties in the Trust.
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology is housed in a single building with 33 Obstetric beds, 17 Gynaecological beds and 14 Special Care Baby Cots (4 designated intensive care). Approximately 3,800 mothers are delivered within the Department annually, and approximately 3,300 ladies are admitted to the Gynaecology Ward (including Day Cases).
There are peripheral out-patient clinics at the Nuffield Diagnostic Centre, Corby, Isebrook Hospital, Wellingborough, Nene Park, Rushden and Market Harborough.
The following services are provided within the department:
A Foetal Health Unit, which includes an Antenatal Day Case Unit and an EPAU. Colposcopy and minor operations suite. Out patient hysteroscopy clinic. Ultrasound scanning and pre natal diagnosis service. Medical termination of pregnancy service. Infertility Clinic.
Main duties of the job
To be responsible for the assessment and management of patients on a day-to-day basis, under consultant supervision. To participate in ward rounds To ensure the effective delivery of care to patients in day case and inpatient theatres (some specialties) To ensure the effective delivery of care to patients in outpatient clinics To participate in multidisciplinary team meetings To communicate effectively with clinical, nursing and other colleagues in the provision of patient care To provide supervision and support to colleagues as appropriate for the grade. To ensure all documentation is accurate and complete. To follow Trust policies and procedures To be punctual and always report to/be available for work at the agreed start time

Qualifications Essential
GMC registered/ licensed Medical Practitioner or eligible for registration Medical Degree -MBBS or equivalent MRCOG Pt 1 or equivalent
Knowledge/Experience Essential
Experience appropriate to grade, including examination, history taking and infection control and understanding own limitations Understand current issues in O&G and practise in the UKX
