Job summary
We're looking for a dedicated and detail-focused Sterile Services Technician to join a highly skilled team within an accredited Sterile Services Department (SSD). You'll play a vital role in supporting patient care by ensuring medical instruments are thoroughly decontaminated, sterilised, and ready for use across healthcare settings.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on, process-driven work in a fast-paced environment, with full training and development provided.
Shift patterns:
Monday to Friday 07:00-15:00 and 12:00-20:00, plus a rostered Saturday shift (08:00-16:00).
Some Bank Holidays may be required, along with participation in on-call and overtime as needed.
Main duties of the job
Reprocessing reusable medical devices (cleaning, sterilising, assembling, packing, and dispatching)Operating specialist decontamination equipment and carrying out routine testingRecording all tasks on a traceability system to ensure compliance and accuracySupporting the handling and disinfection of endoscopesMaintaining high standards in line with ISO 13485:2016 and department proceduresCommunicating effectively with colleagues and healthcare professionalsSupporting new team members and contributing to a positive team environmentIf you're looking for a meaningful role where your work has a direct impact on patient safety and care, we'd love to hear from you.

Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
Good standard of education (e.g. GCSEs or equivalent) Willingness to complete required training and competency assessments
Desirable
Level 3 qualification (or working towards) Decontamination qualification (e.g. City & Guilds or equivalent)
Experience Essential
Experience working in a team environment Experience in a role requiring attention to detail
Desirable
Experience in sterile services or decontamination Experience working in a healthcare or production environment Experience using IT or tracking systems
Additional Criteria Essential
Ability to follow procedures and instructions accurately Basic IT skills and ability to use workplace systems Good communication skills, both written and verbal
Desirable
Awareness of decontamination processes or standards (e.g. HTM, IPC, COSHH) Basic understanding of traceability systems Knowledge of quality or compliance processes
