Job summary
An opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified Echocardiographer to join our cardio-respiratory team at Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
We are an enthusiastic, friendly, motivated team who put the care of patients first. The Cardiology Department provides a range of ultrasound services including Transthoracic Echo, Stress Echo, Contrast Echo, transoesophageal Echo, and valve clinics.
We are a forward thinking department that strives for excellence in all that we do, working closely with British Society of Echocardiography guidelines. We provide a lot of training opportunities for staff and regularly host university students annually.
The department is seeking an enthusiastic, highly motivated, suitably qualified sonographer to join our cardiac ultrasound team.
Main duties of the job
You main duties include:
Providing independent specialist support to the Cardiac Ultrasound Service in transthoracic, stress and transoesophageal echocardiography.
Maintaining a high standard of cardiac ultrasound competency and patient care at all times.
Maintaining post graduate level accreditation in cardiac ultrasound, such as British Society of Echocardiography (BSE) accreditation.
Triage of echo referrals and advise staff on appropriateness, urgency and prioritisation of testing.
Developing any specialised areas of interest in cardiac ultrasound.
Participating in clinical audit and research.
To provide training across professional boundaries to a range of staff including physiologists, medical staff, and others.
Providing mentoring for staff and students.

Experience Essential

Qualifications Essential
High level of clinical competence in a wide range of clinical physiological diagnostic tests. BSc Healthcare Science (Cardiac Physiology) or eqivalent. Post Graduate Diploma in echocardiography or equivalent training and experience. BSE accreditation. RCCP or AHCS registration.
