In this role you will work collaboratively across the organisation and with external partners to lead the development of innovative analytical approaches and projects.You will lead work programmes which support colleaguesacross the organisation touse data and analysisfor prioritisation, policy modelling, and monitoring and evaluating impact.You will also contribute to analysis to understand recent trends in the health of Wales,includingdeveloping and communicating outputs to senior decision-makers.
Main duties of the job
As a senioranalyst, your role will be wide-ranging and demand a broad set of skills. You will lead important projects, working proactively and independently to deliver high-quality outputs.You willengage and collaboratewith a range of internal and external stakeholders,negotiating priorities and translating analytical insights into meaningful, actionable messages. You will apply your technical expertise andcommunication skillsto the development of quality-assuredanalysis projectsthat meet our users' needs.Projects you may contribute to include analysis to understand recent trends in healthy life expectancy in Wales,andmodellingof policies to improve mental health such as social prescribing.

Qualifications and Knowledge Essential
Educated to degree level in a numerate subject OR equivalent qualification OR equivalent level of knowledge and skills Specialist knowledge and experience of statistical and analytical techniques
Desirable
Knowledge and interest in Data Science techniques Masters degree in a numerate subject OR equivalent qualification OR equivalent level of knowledge and skills
Experience Essential
Experience of performing complex analytical tasks and creating outputs for use by others Experience of communicating complex information to a non-technical audience

Report writing and presentation skills. Experience utilising complex datasets related to population health Familiarity with medical terminology and coding systems e.g. ICD10, OPCS, Read codes, SNOMED CT
Skills and Attributes Essential
Advanced IT skills with experience of using Microsoft Office applications Knowledge and experience of specialist computer software, such as SQL, R studio or Google Cloud Platform for the production of complex analyses of public health or related data. Understanding of Public Health Wales policies and principles and the ability to work within these guidelines. Clear understanding of current and ongoing issues affecting public health. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to demonstrate understanding and application of our workplace values, together with the underpinning behaviours identified for success in this role.
