Job summary
We have an excellent opportunity for a motivated and well-organised individual to join our Musculoskeletal (MSK) Therapies Department as an Assistant Medical Secretary.
In this role, you will provide administrative support, working closely with the Secretarial Team and Advanced Physio Practitioners. You will be involved in supporting a busy clinical service, gaining exposure to complex terminology and developing a strong understanding of pathways and patient care processes.
This is an opportunity to build your administrative skills within a supportive and collaborative team, while contributing to the effective and efficient running of a fast-paced clinical department.
The post is based onsite at Clifton Park Chapel.

Main duties of the job
Utilise strong administrative and audio-typing skills, supported by relevant experience or qualifications, to produce accurate clinical correspondence.
Print, process, transmit, and distribute patient correspondence and results letters, ensuring deadlines are met and items are sent promptly to the post room where required.
Provide timely and precise audio typing to support the Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioners and the wider clinical team.
Undertake a range of general administrative and office duties to support the efficient day-to-day running of the service.
Demonstrate excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage and prioritise a varied and demanding workload.
Work confidently and efficiently with minimal supervision, using initiative to meet service needs.
Maintain effective communication with members of the medical secretary team and wider staff.
Adhere to strict standards of confidentiality, data protection, and professionalism at all times.
Actively participate in training and development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
Contribute positively to a supportive, flexible, and motivated team environment.
Communicate clearly and professionally with patients, demonstrating a confident and courteous telephone manner.

Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
Educated to GCSE Level or equivalent. English at C or above - or equivalent qualification/demonstrable experience Word processing and Typing skills - RSA III or NVQ3 Level (or relevant experience)
Experience Essential
Previous Secretarial/Administrative experience (6 months minimum). Thorough knowledge of complex medical terminology. Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook)
Desirable
Previous Office/Administrative experience in an NHS environment
Skills Essential
Able to organize and prioritise own workload
