Job summary
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced practice nurse, who specialises in the management of diabetes, to join our friendly, close-knit team at Wickhambrook Surgery. The role is part time, for 2 full days a week, working 8.30am to 6.30pm with an hour for lunch.
This key role will provide nursing services to patients of the practice, including treatment, screening and advice within the professional competencies of the post-holder. The post holder will work in accordance with the NMC Code of Conduct. There is a requirement to see extra or emergency patients.
Interviews will be held week commencing 13 July 2026.
Main duties of the job
Main duties include:
Disease management, with particular reference to patients suffering from diabetes Health promotion:- Immunisations and vaccinations including Covid- Flu clinics- Dietary advice- Smoking cessation advice- Alcohol intake- New patient medical checks- NHS health checks- Travel health advice Assisting doctors with minor surgery, suturing and insertion of IUCDs and implants Cervical smears Pill and HRT checks Assessment and treatment of minor injuries ECGs Application of dressings Suture removal
About us
Our practice is located within the beautiful Suffolk village of Wickhambrook, between Bury St Edmunds, Newmarket and Haverhill. The practice runs from a purpose-built building. We serve a patient population of approximately 5,200 patients, dispensing nearly 100% of the practice population. Our traditional approach and family friendly ethos is very much appreciated by our patients.
Working in general practice is busy, but it is also very rewarding. Knowing that we are helping our patients in what can sometimes be difficult periods in their lives is very satisfying.

Person Specification
All applicants should have the following qualifications, registrations, skills and experience: Essential
Registered nurse with current NMC Diabetes as a specialism is essential
