Job summary
We are seeking a committed Specialty Doctor with experience in HIV and Genitourinary Medicine (GUM) to join our integrated Sexual Health team across the East of England for 12 months to cover parental leave, 6 PA's per week (24 hours per week).
You will deliver high-quality, patient-centred care, with a focus on the diagnosis, treatment and long term management of HIV and sexually transmitted infections. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will support both complex case management and routine sexual health services.
Key responsibilities:
Provide specialist HIV and GUM care, including complex STI management and follow-up
Undertake comprehensive sexual health assessments, testing and treatment
Deliver HIV testing, counselling and results in a sensitive, non-judgemental manner
Contribute to prevention strategies including PrEP, vaccination and health promotion
Support nurse-led services and offer expert clinical advice to colleagues
Participate in teaching, audit and continuous service improvement

Job description Job responsibilities Main Duties and Responsibilities
Clinical:
Provide specialist medical care, advice and support in order to provide high quality individualised care to patients/clients in line with local and national guidelines for either sexual health and/or contraception.
To independently assess, plan and evaluate programmes of care with use of medical prescribing. To supply treatments to patients as prescribed.
Maintain a high standard of documentation, and complete timely patient records to include both paper and electronic based systems.
To be competent in the management of under 18 year olds and vulnerable adults working within Fraser Guidelines and mental capacity assessments and liaising with the multi-disciplinary team and EEC and local safeguarding teams/services as appropriate.
To provide medical advice and support in clinic and over the telephone to clinical colleagues and other health professionals as necessary.
To work in a collaborative way with the wider multidisciplinary team within sexual health services supporting an integrated model of care across the locality.
Participate in the induction of new members of staff. Design and deliver training and education programs within the service to iCaSH colleagues and to external colleagues from partner agencies, primary care, acute Trusts and other colleagues as required.
To take an active role in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training.
To liaise and work effectively with all stakeholders involved with the service.
Sexual Health Specialty (as appropriate):
Work within appropriate local and national clinical guidelines, undertake full sexual history, examination and screening for sexually transmitted infections and encourage the uptake of Chlamydia screening for young people under 25 years of age.
The routine and complex management and follow up of GU patients and STIs cases.
Undertake microscopy, to include interpretation of clinical specimens and provisional diagnosis of infections.
Promote vaccination programme delivery as required.
To perform phlebotomy as required in accordance with Trust and service guidelines and standard operating proceduresInterpret and discuss clinical results with patients/clients, such as results of STI screening and HIV test results.
Be a BASHH (British Association of Sexual Health and HIV) registered trainer or undertake such training.
Reproductive Health Specialty (as appropriate):
Work within appropriate local and national clinical guidelines to advise and counsel patients on methods of contraception.
With appropriate training promote and provide all Long Acting Reversible Contraception methods (LARC).
The routine and complex management and follow up of contraceptive advice and care and treatment.
To counsel and advise on termination of pregnancy and refer on to appropriate services.
Undertake cervical screening if required, demonstrating up to date competencies and knowledge on the National Cervical Screening program.
Be an FSRH (Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Health) registered trainer or undertake such training.
Communication Be conversant with the roles of all the staff within the service and with other colleagues internal or external to the organisation.

It is a condition of your employment that you are currently registered with the General Medical Council (GMC) and it is your responsibility to maintain your professional registration and any supplementary registrations.
Undertake mandatory training and any other training relevant to the role as required by East of England Community Health and Care NHS Trust.
The post holder must participate in clinical and safeguarding audits as required.
Participate in and actively contribute to local and national policy and SOP development.
Provide patients and their families /carers with information on standards they should expect from the team.
Participate in clinical/management supervision on a regular basis.
