We are now looking for a dedicated Consultant in HIV & Genitourinary Medicine to join our Integrated Contraception and Sexual Health (iCaSH) team in Norfolk for 12 months providing Fixed Term parental leave cover 6 PA's per week (24 hours per week).
Based in King's Lynn, you will play a key role in providing expert clinical care across HIV, Sexual Health and Contraception services. You will work closely with a skilled multidisciplinary team, helping to shape and develop services that meet the needs of a diverse population.

Main duties of the job
This post of Consultant Physician in Integrated Contraception and Sexual Health (iCaSH) (including HIV) is based within the iCaSH Norfolk locality at the King's Lynn Clinic: Vancouver House. They will work alongside the existing clinical and administrative teams providing integrated contraception and sexual health services in Norfolk.
The post holder will be expected to have broad and robust experience in sexual health and Genito-urinary medicine and specifically the management of people living with HIV.
Provide expert leadership and clinical care within the full range of genitourinary conditions and HIV
Provide expert advice and direction to medical, nursing, allied and administrative staff
Support achievement of STI/HIV local public health targets
Provide leadership and vision in development of local and shared care pathways in line with clinical governance arrangements
Work as part of a team dedicated to sexual health promotion and care, delivering contraception and sexual health services to national standards and guidelines

To be an active participant of the local HIV network
Be responsible for the training of the clinical team
Be responsible for updating, supervision and professional management of the medical team, ensuring adherence to procedures and protocols
To liaise with colleagues within the local area to deliver safe and effective care
To use the electronic patient database competently and efficiently for all aspects of patient care and operational day to day clinical management
Support good medical practice through clinical supervision, education and training, reviews of safety and quality, team working and clinical leadership.
Support the commitment of the department to the development of undergraduate teaching, with monthly governance meetings and a programme of clinical supervision
Undertake audit and research as a part of the service audit plan.
Communication To provide an effective interface between the iCaSH service and all its partners and stakeholders. To promote and develop awareness in order to publicise the scope and delivery of this specialist service through talks, presentations and media contact if required. To communicate, empathise and reassure patients and their families and/or carers, and staff providing virtual, written and face-to-face support, advice and information Develop and maintain networks and communications with other appropriate services and organisations and stakeholders To produce written documentation and reports regarding technical and moderately complex subjects relating to clinical provision, performance, governance and other service-related activity and innovations To attend relevant meetings and liaise with colleagues and other professionals both within and outside of EEC, building strong working relationships to support the delivery of services to patients To utilise highly developed emotional intelligence, communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills with all patients and visitors attending the service and colleagues, stakeholders and partnership colleagues To provide health promotion and disease prevention services promoting sexual and reproductive health equalities and strategies to reduce risk taking behaviour To communicate the health status of patients, using appropriate terminology, format and technology. Enable communication of complex issues and share sensitive and highly personal information following Trust and National data sharing guidance and legislation Communicate across a range of patient groups for example, patients with cognitive - language barriers, culturally diverse patients which may include asylum seekers and patients with physical or learning disabilities, or with identified vulnerabilities, To communicate sensitively with clients, empathising and empowering as appropriate, often dealing with sensitive or unwelcome news such as an unplanned pregnancy or an STI or HIV diagnosis To work with young people in accordance with the safeguarding of children principles and to work with all vulnerable adults within safeguarding principles To establish and maintain effective communication with the Head of Service, Clinical Lead(s), Service Manager, Medical and Nursing Staff, Administration Staff, Allied Health Professionals, patients and relatives (if appropriate), stakeholders and partner and/or external agencies To liaise effectively with all other disciplines within iCaSH, the wider EEC corporate and clinical teams at local and corporate level People Management Maintain own professional development and undertake annual performance appraisal Be responsible for the training of the clinical team where appropriate The post holder will be required to be compliant with the General Medical Council (GMC) relicensing and revalidation process. Time is allocated within the job plan to support professional activities including Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Maintaining own professional development and requirement to take part in the Trusts appraisal process To support and mentor new staff and students as required Participate in the orientation, training, education and development of iCaSH staff, students and for stakeholders and partner agencies if required, fostering collaborative partnerships with all disciplines of staff To clinically support the service and team members, providing senior clinical leadership and advice when required Research & Development Activity Initiate and participate formally and informally in research projects in order to improve or evaluate care as agreed by the Service
Participate in relevant audits and work with the iCaSH team to implement action plans developed from audit
Clinical and Practice Governance Observe and maintain strict confidentiality with regards to any patient/family/staff/records and information in line with the requirements of the Data Protection Act. Any data that is taken/shared as part of a phone call or transported, faxed or transferred electronically must be undertaken in compliance with the Trust Information Governance and Information Security policies. The post holder must adhere to the Trust risk assessment and risk management processes. The post holder must adhere to infection control policies and procedures. It is a condition of your employment that you are currently registered with your professional body, and it is your responsibility to maintain your professional registration. Undertake mandatory training and any other training relevant to the role as required by EEC NHS Trust. Participate in clinical and managerial supervision on a regular basis. The post holder must participate in clinical and safeguarding audits as required. Participate in Clinical & Safeguarding supervision on a regular basis. The post holder will be required to work within the clinical governance framework for the Trust, and iCaSH, and will be required to undertake and participate in audit, service improvement, quality assurance, clinical effectiveness and risk management activities as required by EEC NHS Trust and iCaSH. Ensure clinical work is evidence based and professionally keep up to date by a variety of means, taking part in Clinical Supervision and governance arrangements. Ensure that all clinical notes are contemporaneous, accurately maintained and securely stored. Act as an innovator, providing a flexible responsive service and act as a senior role model for all staff, motivating others and translating ideas into practice. In partnership with the Clinical Nurse Manager and Service Manager, plan training for staff working within the iCaSH service. Provide patients and their families/carers with information on standards they should expect from the team. The post holder is required to participate in relevant emergency preparedness process for their team. Administrative and clinical duties will be allocated under the direction and approval of the Service Manager, and will be reflected in the job plan through the Trusts job planning programme. A mentor will be suggested by mutual agreement from within the specialty at the start of appointment (if required).
