The successful candidate will have a genuine interest in working with individuals experiencing moderate to severe eating disorders and will be committed to providing compassionate, person-centered care.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will work as part of a supportive multidisciplinary team within the Community Eating Disorders Service, providing psychological support to individuals experiencing moderate to severe eating disorders, particularly Bulimia Nervosa (BN) and Binge Eating Disorder (BED). Under the supervision of a qualified psychologist, the post holder will deliver evidence-based guided self-help interventions both individual and in groups, support psychological assessments and risk management, and contribute to care planning and treatment delivery.

The role offers a varied mix of clinical, administrative, research, and service development responsibilities. The post holder will support the wider MDT with clinical and administrative tasks, contribute to psychoeducation and carer support initiatives, and assist with monitoring clinical outcomes, audits, research, and service evaluation projects. There will also be opportunities to contribute to quality improvement work and ongoing service development.
The post holder will work collaboratively with service users, families, carers, and professionals across primary, secondary, and tertiary care settings. Strong communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills are essential, alongside the ability to work compassionately and professionally within what can at times be emotionally demanding clinical environments. Regular clinical supervision, CPD opportunities, and involvement in team and peer supervision are integral parts of the role.
Person Specification
EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE Essential
Experience of working with people with physical, mental health and/or other disabilities Ability to and experience of multi-disciplinary team working and inter-agency collaboration
Desirable
Experience of implementing supervised psychological treatment plans, either directly with individual clients or via a carer or other professionals Experience of using Cognitive Behaviour Therapy interventions with a clinical population
COMMUNICATION Essential
Ability to communicate with a wide range of people. Central to this is the ability to show empathy. Ability to keep accurate and complete records of activities and communications consistent with legislation, policies and procedures. Ability to make constructive suggestions to an appropriate person as to how services can be improved for users and the public
