Job summary
We are looking for a motivated and skilled Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join our specialist Hyperacute and Acute Neurorehabilitation teams at Salford Royal Hospital. As the major Neurosciences Centre for Greater Manchester, Salford offers an exceptional environment for developing advanced neurorehabilitation expertise.
In this role, you will work with patients presenting with a wide range of complex neurological conditions, including traumatic brain injury, stroke, neurosurgical conditions, and rapidly evolving neurological presentations. You will be involved in early rehabilitation, functional assessment, cognitive evaluation, splinting, and discharge planning within a fast-paced, supportive MDT.
One key aspect of the post is the assessment and treatment of patients with Persistent Disorders of Consciousness (PDOC) and other low-level presentations. You will receive structured training and supervision from two experienced Band 7 PDOC specialist OTs, alongside support from our Band 8a Neurorehabilitation Specialist OT. Experience in neurorehabilitation at Band 6 level is essential, and an interest in developing specialist PDOC skills is highly desirable.
Main duties of the job
o To deliver high-quality Occupational therapy services for all patients admitted with a Neurological condition.o Complete specialist assessments and provide evidence-based interventions tailored to patients' needs.o Contribute to goal setting and discharge planning in collaboration with patients, families and wider MDT.o Liaise effectively with community services to ensure seamless transitions.o Support junior staff, students and assistants through supervision and mentoring.o Participate in audit, service development, and quality improvement initiatives.o Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with trust policies.
