Job summary
The Deputy Catering Manager will work closely with the Catering Services Manager on the operational management of the Catering Service at Oldham Care Organisations.
Working in prescribed budgetary limits the Deputy Catering Manager will assist in providing a comprehensive, high quality, cost effective service to patients, staff and visitors.
Main duties of the job
The post holder is responsible for the recruitment, selection, welfare and disciplinary procedures relating to staff. Ensuring the highest standards of food hygiene safety, food quality and Nutrition. To show leadership in achieving and maintaining the highest standards of health & safety, through the development of monitoring systems, policies, procedures, whilst carrying out risk assessments and action planning. The post holder is also responsible for responding to and monitoring complaints regarding the department.
In addition the post holder will assist in Trust wide strategic catering developments and take a lead on activities and projects where delegated by the Catering Services Manager, making assessments, provide written reports and implementing new ways of working within the catering department.
The post holder will manage change to working practices, manage conflict and culture change in own and other areas. Such developments have to be evidenced based, comply with health and safety legislation, have clear benefits for the Trust wide organisation, staff and public, be cost effective and make best use of existing resources and take into account the priorities and plans of the employing Trust.
The post holder will assist in the management of all retail outlets, producing monthly trading accounts. They will continue to make improvements and drive sales in all retail outlets whilst catering for the needs of staff, visitors and Patients.

City & Guilds 706/1 & 706/2 or relevant experience Level 3 allergen qualification

Knowledge & Training experience Essential
