About this role

Job summary

We are looking to recruit a dynamic and motivated Registered Nurse to join our well-established Urology Nurse Specialist team. This post enables us to expand our Clinical Nursing Team to develop and improve care for urological patients.

The post holder will work, as part of the multidisciplinary team providing diagnosis, treatment and management of various urological conditions mainly along the prostate cancer pathway. Considerable post registration experience is required, including experience in the area of urology.

We welcome applications from trained nurses with excellent communication and organisational skills, who offer a proactive approach to improving the urology patient's experience. Using your clinical knowledge and skills you will provide advice and support to Urology patients across our two hospital sites.

We require a full-time (37.5 hours per week) Clinical Nurse Specialist to work as part of our multidisciplinary team. Main duties of the job

o The role provides specialist nursing care for adults with urology conditions or stoma needs, supporting them in both hospital and community settings.

o It involves assessing patients, planning their care, and helping them understand their diagnosis and treatment options.

o The postholder will run nurse-led clinics, offer expert advice to patients and staff, and act as a key worker to support people through their treatment journey.

o They will help lead and develop the urology service, working closely with other teams to make sure care is safe, joined-up and based on the best evidence.

o The role also includes supporting junior staff, helping with training, and contributing to service improvement and research.

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

RGN Post registration experience Nursing degree or working towards Understanding of clinical governance

Desirable

Speciality related MSc or working towards Counselling qualification Independent Nurse Prescribing course

Experience Essential

Experience in multi professional setting Experience of liaising with Primary Healthcare Providers Ability to plan and organise own workload Knowledge of current urological disease and stoma management, including oncology procedures Evidence of audit involvement

Desirable

Experience of running nurse led clinics Demonstrable use of support groups Evidence of clinical supervision Experience of planning and presenting educational sessions

Skills Essential

Ability to conduct own projects and follow through Computer skills Leadership skills Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team Ability to travel across site
