Job summary
Pemberton Surgery is looking to appoint a medical receptionist to join our existing team. This is a great opportunity for someone who is enthusiastic and is willing to succeed in a busy office environment.

Receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way.
Provide general assistant to the practice team and project a positive friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone.
About us
Pemberton Surgery is a busy general practice with a patient population of approximately 10,300 patients.
We are situated in a purpose built health centre which is shared by 2 GP practices, community clinic and a dentist.
The practice team comprises of 4 GP partners, 2 salaried GPs, 3 practice nurses, 1 HCA, Practice manager, Operations manager, Business Support officer, PT Reception manager, PT Reception supervisor, part time Secretary and 11 admin/receptionist.
We are a very friendly, hardworking and supportive team who deals with the ever changing face of general practice effectively.
We are active members of our Primary Care Network and are members of a GP federation.

Administration
To have a thorough knowledge of all practice procedures To work in accordance of written protocols Filing post in medical recordsScan/photocopy documents as requested Reception
Receiving patients, consulting with members of practice team Handing completed repeat prescriptions to patient and checking names and address. Be able to cover all reception position as necessary Appointments
Process patient requests for today/future appointments from patients by telephone and in person. Deal with visits/requests Computer
Navigate the clinical system (Emis) to view and input into clinical recordsBe proficient in other computer software essential to the role (Docman, Accurx, AskmyGP etc) Telephone
Have working knowledge of telephone/bleep system, during and after hours Cover for telephonist when necessary Other Tasks
Ensure rooms are cleared and locked after surgeries Ensure building security have thorough knowledge of doors/windows/alarm Any other tasks allocated by managers
Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
GCSE grade A to C in English and Maths
Desirable
Advanced level Microsoft Office Qualified to NVQ level 2 in Health and Social Care Recognised qualification to diploma level or above A demonstrable commitment to professional development
Experience Essential
Sound knowledge of Windows and MS office It literate
Desirable
Experience in working in Primary Care Experience in working in general practice
Skills & Knowledge Essential
Excellent level of IT skills Excellent keyboard and computer skills Excellent communication skills
