Whipps Cross University Hospital, London with the potential to work across Barts Health Trust sites e.g., Newham.

Whipps Cross University Hospital is seeking a full-time Medical Retina to join our busy ophthalmology team.

Main duties of the job

You will manage medical retinal conditions, including AMD, diabetic retinopathy, and retinal vascular disease, in outpatient clinics and injection suites.Key Responsibilities:o Deliver high-quality patient care across the medical retina service.o Lead MR clinicso Supervise trainees and support staff development.o Contribute to audit, service improvement, and research activities.

Job description Job responsibilities

Requirements: GMC registration and CCT or CESR in Ophthalmology with medical retina expertise. Proven experience in managing medical retina conditions and uveitis. Strong communication and teamwork skills.Part of Barts Health NHS Trust, Whipps Cross serves a diverse East London population. Our ophthalmology department offers a supportive, teaching-friendly environment with opportunities for research and professional growth.

Qualifications Essential

CCT or equivalent or within 6 months of a date Full registration on GMC Specialist Register FRCOphth or equivalent Fellowship - Medical Retina Fellowship - Uveitis

Desirable

Higher degree (PhD or MD) Academic Prizes Consultant experience

Experience Essential

Wide experience in all aspects of Ophthalmology Established portfolio of teaching experience.

Desirable

Management experience Participation in clinical trials Hands on experience with service development Evidence of publications in peer reviewed journals Cataract Surgery

Professional Skills Essential

Clinical Leadership Working in multidisciplinary teams Training junior doctors and allied healthcare professionals Clinical governance including audit Communication IT Skills
