Systemic Anti-Cancer Treatment (SACT) Nurse (Developmental Band 5/Established Band 6)
An exciting opportunity has arisen to expand our team of dedicated Systemic Anti-Cancer Treatment (SACT) outpatient nurses at the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust.
We are looking for nurses with experience in SACT administration to apply for the role of Band 6 Senior SACT Nurse.
If you do not have this qualification or experience we would encourage you to use this as an opportunity to apply for a developmental Band 5 SACT Nurse position.
The developmental pathway will include relevant training in SACT administration and the completion of in-house Band 6 development competencies with a guaranteed uplift from Band 5 to Band 6 as a result.

You will be expected to work across our 3 outpatient SACT units:
1/ King Edward Ward, Royal Berkshire Hospital, Reading.
2/ Bracknell Chemotherapy 1, Bracknell Healthspace.
3/ The Rosemary Centre, West Berkshire Community Hospital, Thatcham.
Main duties of the job
Safe administration of SACT and supportive therapies to oncology patients in an outpatient setting. Nurse-led SACT toxicity assessments and appropriate escalation. Work with the MDT to provide safe, evidence-based, holistic care. Venepuncture/Cannulation/CVAD care. UKONs triage and associated management. Management of emergencies such as adverse reactions to treatment. Contribute to service development and maintenance of cancer targets. Coordinate shifts, manage workload and ensure safe staffing levels. Deliver group pre-treatment patient education sessions. Act as a role model to all staff. Mentor/develop junior staff and colleagues. Work with the senior team to improve the service and patient experience based on latest evidence and developments in cancer care. Engage with educational opportunities locally, regionally and nationally, ensuring learning is shared with the wider team.
