We are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity for a motivated, conscientious and dedicated Estates Officer (Electrical & Controls) to join our team of specialist engineering managers supporting multiple hospital sites.
You will ensure that all electrical and controls maintenance, installation and contract works are planned, reviewed and delivered safely and to high professional standards. Acting as an Authorised Person (AP) in line with Health Technical Memorandum (HTM) guidance, you will play a vital role in maintaining compliant, resilient and safe healthcare environments.
You will provide strong technical leadership within the Estates service, offering direction, mentoring and support to engineering colleagues and contractors. This includes setting standards, overseeing specialist works, contributing to risk management and service planning, and working closely with nontechnical stakeholders to translate complex technical requirements into clear, practical solutions.

There is clear scope to broaden your technical responsibilities, develop managerial capability and progress into more senior estates or engineering management roles.
Participation in the on call rota and occasional overtime is required, with appropriate remuneration provided.
Main duties of the job
Applicants must demonstrate a high level of specialist knowledge in electrical engineering, supported by strong theoretical understanding and substantial practical experience. You will be qualified to degree level (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering discipline, with additional specialist training and/or experience equivalent to masters level.
The role requires the confident application of professional judgement, initiative and analytical problemsolving skills when managing complex and highrisk technical situations. You will be expected to resolve issues effectively, minimise service disruption and ensure full compliance with statutory, mandatory and bestpractice requirements.
Excellent communication and leadership skills are essential. You will be capable of coordinating resources, guiding technical teams and contractors, and influencing operational decisionmaking through clear, credible and wellreasoned advice. Job description Job responsibilities
The role will require the post holder to undertake the role of Authorised Person (AP) as defined within Health Technical Memorandum (HTM) 00 for multiple engineer services. The responsibility will provide the post holder with key operational responsibilities for ensuring that appropriate engineering services are maintained to current statutory, mandatory and best practice requirements.
The role will also require the individual to have substantial management skills and experience to ensure that external contractors and directly employed labour are managed in the most efficient manner. Furthermore, the role will also require the participation in the current CFS shift pattern/system, current on-call rota and undertake overtime when the service needs dictate for which appropriate payments will be made.

Educated to degree level qualification or equivalent in relevant field, OR working towards degree level qualification or equivalent in relevant field supplemented with relevant experience, OR able to demonstrate equivalent experience, knowledge and training, Specialist knowledge to masters level of electrical systems acquired through specialist courses and CPD Basic Numeracy & Literacy Skills to Level 1 or equivalent

Experience Essential
Significant post apprenticeship/graduation electrical experience Significant electrical experience of systems typically found within a large Acute NHS Trust Experience of undertaking an engineering management role within a large acute hospital or similar industry.

Physical skills Essential
Undertake moderate moving and handling activities with the ability Requirement for physical dexterity, hand and eye co-ordination, Perform testing and asset condition surveys using a range of technical and non-technical devices and instruments, To sit at workstations for a prolonged period of time then adapt to undertake site surveys or respond to emergency situations, May be required to travel, work and manage at all of CFS managed sites
