Job summary
A vacancy has arisen in the Hip Fracture Ward, B7 at Peterborough City Hospital, part of Trauma and Orthopaedics within the Surgery Division.
This is a busy but rewarding ward which has dual specialty with both Orthopaedic Hip surgeons and Orthogeriatricians. The patients are over 60 years of age with varying degrees of cognitive impairment. Alongside hip fractures we look after any older person with a femoral shaft fracture. There will be occasions where we look after younger patients with hip fractures, under the care of the trauma team.
Applicants who do not meet the full criteria for appointment at Band 3 may be appointed at Band 2 and supported through a structured development programme including completion of required competencies and qualifications with progression to Band 3 subject to evidence of competence and service need.
Main duties of the job
As a valued member of the team you will be working alongside registered nurses to provide fundamental care, personal care, toileting and assist with feeding our patients whilst encouraging them to remain as independent as possible. You will also support with providing enhanced care to those patients who require it.
The role covers day shifts, night shifts and weekend working

Education Essential
Maths and English skills equivalent to Level 1 Literacy and Numeracy Completion of Care Certificate or equivalent experience For Band 3 appointments: NVQ / QCF Level 3 in a health-related subject or demonstrable equivalent experience supported by completion of a competency-based clinical skills framework
Experience Essential
Experience of working as a Healthcare Assistant Experience of caring for patients in an acute setting Experience of working within a team
