Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity to join our friendly, well-organised GP training and Cambridge University teaching practice. Due to relocation, and to support our practice's approach to a favourable work/life balance, we are looking for a Salaried GP to work 4- 8 sessions per week. We are keen to employ an enthusiastic and motivated GP who will bring a compassionate approach to patient care and become a valuable member of our successful practice team.
Main duties of the job
Salaried GPs work as part of the team, sharing duties on different days, e.g.
Conducting telephone and video consultations with patientsSeeing patients face-to-face, including home visits where neededDuty doctor/back up doctor responsible for triaging 'same day' patient concerns via telephone or AccuRx triageChecking and signing repeat prescriptionsChecking and filing test results and medical reportsMaking referrals and signposting patientsWorking to achieve high standards on QOF targets by completing reviews and creating care plans for patientsSupporting student doctors through shared consultations and debriefing sessionsSharing personal expertise through tutorialsCompleting requests for medical forms and private reportsAuthorising SARs
About us
The Red House Surgery is a friendly and hard-working organisation. Clinical staff include eleven GPs, a GP registrar, clinical pharmacy team, personalised care team, physiotherapists, advanced clinical practitioner, nurses and GPA's. Non-clinical staff include managers and a team of patient services administrators
Our branch surgery is located at Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge and provides an opportunity to work with students and staff at the University.
We are a forward thinking and pro-active surgery, always aiming to maintain the highest standards of practice to deliver excellent care to our patients, as well as protecting the safety and well-being of staff. All departments work together to achieve our aims and mutual support is a key aspect of our ethos.

Job description Job responsibilities
To provide safe and effective General Medical Services, including enhanced services, to patients of and visiting the practice. Work with the Partners and Practice Manager to effectively manage the practice including workload and availability while ensuring quality care and supporting colleagues. Professional Responsibilities
It is a condition of your employment that you are, and remain, on the GMC register and a member of a recognised Defence Organisation.
To work within The Good Practice Guidelines and to agreed practice protocols.
To maintain high standards of clinical practice by ensuring the application of available evidence based research and agreed protocols.
To work in collaboration with the Primary Health Care team to address identified individual and population needs.
Participate in training and education programmes.
To identify and address own learning needs by participation in the processes of personal professional and practice development planning. To maintain/update PDP, through the appraisal and accreditation system.
To participate in clinical audits within the practice.
To maintain accurate and contemporaneous patient records and registers in accordance with practice policy.
Clinical Responsibilities to include:
To provide General Medical Services to registered and visiting patients of the practice.
The practice provides a range of enhanced services and you will be required to provide these services also, in accordance with the relevant Service Level Agreements.
To take responsibility for your patients, i.e. following up tests, complete relevant paperwork for them, including Medical Attendance Reports from insurance companies and answering queries relating to your patients.
To participate in the Duty Doctor/Triage Doctor and Repeat Prescription Doctor (electronic and paper systems) rotas, from 08.30 - 18.00, and to arrange to swap duty days when necessary to enable annual or other leave.
To participate in the training of medical students that are assigned to the practice.
To action your message screen on each of your working days, ensuring all messages have been actioned before leaving at the end of each day.
To read and action your daily incoming post
To participate in the Buddy system, providing cover for a specific colleague during their absence.
To liaise with the partners regarding any problem patients you may encounter.
Additional responsibilities.
Work constructively and supportively with the partners and Practice Business Manager. Contribute actively to change and development processes in the practice including those processes which are in partnership with other organisations. Prepare for, attend meetings and contribute to practice decision-making processes. Develop and maintain positive and collaborative working relationships with the whole practice team including giving explicit praise where it is merited. Contribute to developing and maintaining practice systems. To attend and participate in regular practice based and external meetings such as Clinical Governance, Practice Development, GP Contract, Primary Health Care Team etc. If these meetings are held outside normal working hours, reasonable notice will be given and you will receive time off in lieu.
To participate in and operate clinical governance methods and systems approved by the relevant body, eg medical audit or quality assurance initiatives.
To work with other members of the team towards the achievement of the practice objectives.
To work with other members of the team towards the achievement of practice targets, such as QOF, prescribing etc.
To work with other members of the team towards the achievement of targets defined in raising standards in primary care.
To work with and support the partners in meeting and sustaining CQC targets.

Excellent communication skills. High level of commitment to patient care. Willingness to be part of a busy team of practitioners. Ability to manage a varied workload with confidence and efficiency.

Confident in use of a variety of IT platforms, e.g. AccuRx, Ardens or similar, to communicate with patients and manage care, referrals, QOF work etc. Keen to promote the use of new initiatives to continually develop and improve the work of the surgery and provide excellent results for patients.
