Job summary
We are looking for a motivated Nursing Associate or experienced Healthcare Assistant (HCA) to join our friendly and supportive General Practice team, helping with the delivery of high-quality patient care.
Working under the guidance of the nursing team and GPs, you will perform a range of clinical tasks such as phlebotomy, blood pressure monitoring, ECGs, NHS health checks, vaccinations (if trained), and assisting with long term condition management. You will also contribute to the overall patient experience by providing reassurance, health promotion advice and practical support throughout their visit.
This role is ideal for someone with previous NA/HCA experience, preferably in primary care or community health, who is enthusiastic, organised, and committed to making a difference to our patient population.
Main duties of the job
Nursing Duties
Urinalysis, phlebotomy, other samples as applicable
NHS Health checks, Diabetic checks
BP & 24-hour BP monitoring, weight monitoring, ECGs
Ensure clinical waste collection runs smoothly, reporting any problems to the nursing team.
Restocking/maintenance and infection control of equipment in clinical areas and consulting rooms.
Administration and professional responsibilities
Participate in the administrative and professional responsibilities of the practice team
Ensure accurate notes of all consultations and treatments are recorded in the patient's notes and applied to QoF targets and enhanced services.
Attend and participate in clinical supervision meetings.
About us
We are a GP Training practice consisting of 10 GPs, with 7 nurses, 1 HCA, with other in-house support paramedics, pharmacists, mental health nurse, social prescriber with care navigators and administrative support with a good CQC rating. We have good communication throughout with lunch time shared with all nursing team in the staff room and a daily clinical supervision for the other clinicians. There is plenty of opportunity for MDT interaction and the freedom to knock on doors and share queries and concerns.
We work out of a converted property based in the town of Bletchley in Milton Keynes and serve a practice population of around 14,000.

Basic wound care including removal of sutures, clips and simple dressings

Assisting with Family planning clinics
Chaperoning

For Nursing Associate, registration with NMC OR Previous experience as an HCA in primary care Phlebotomy certification
