About this role

Job summary

The role requires strong team and multi-agency working. The post holder will be required to work in close communication with appropriate colleagues in health, education, social services, and voluntary agencies in the delivery of assessment and intervention to children and their families, and carers.

You will be required to work under the supervision of the PBS Team Lead and alongside other colleagues to provide and co-ordinate care of CYP admitted to the paediatric wards whose behaviours pose additional challenges.

Main duties of the job

Offer individualised evidence-based assessment and intervention to CYP and families and contribute to multi-agency working to ensure safe and effective care in relation to their complex needs and presenting risks. Make clear plans of care and contribute to wider decisions on how best to support CYP during their acute hospital admission. Advise staff, contribute to staff training programmes and support quality improvement projects and service developments within the Trust. Closing date of applications: 17th June 2026

Person Specification

Education and qualification Essential

Completion of an accredited training course in a relevant professional degree level qualification in Psychology, Social Care, Nursing or Counselling/ Therapeutic discipline Eligible for professional registration under the relevant professional body (e.g. HCPC, NMC)

Desirable

Further training/ qualification or equivalent professional experience with clear development in breadth of knowledge

Experience and knowledge Essential

Demonstrable knowledge of positive behaviour support principals and approaches

Desirable

Experience of working with autistic CYP and other neurodevelopmental conditions. Knowledge of the theory and practice of specialised assessments in specific difficult to treat groups Experience of inpatient settings

Skills and ability Essential

To be able to demonstrate the ability to assess risks associated with CYP's presenting needs and to develop management plans To make decisions analysing complex information from multiple sources

Desirable

Skills in training, leading, mentoring or coaching others. Ability to deputise for senior colleagues as required
