About this role
• Brief Description • The Tailings & Heap Leach superintendent will be responsible for management of 6 tailings storage facilities (TSFs) and 4 heap leach facilities (HLFs) at the Carlin Complex Gold Quarry area.
• Qualifications • Bachelor of Science in Geological Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mining Engineering or related engineering degree or equivalent experience required. • Knowledge of Tailings and Heap leach operations and construction required. • Professional Engineer designation preferred. • 10 years of experience in the mining or related industry preferred. • Strong oral and written communication skills required.
Ability to work in a team required Responsibilities
• Fulfill the responsible tailings facility engineer (RTFE) role for the South Area facilities. • Support internal budgeting and work plans required for South Area TSF/HLF management. • Manage the supporting one support engineer. • Communicate and coordinate with other site departments, site leadership, and corporate leadership. • Review water and tailings deposition models. Ensure adequate model calibration and regular reporting. • Review of engineering designs and construction packages, site investigation plans, and technical reports. • Management and coordination of external consultants including the engineer-of-record for each TSF/HLF. • Stay up-to-date with the state of practice in geotechnical and tailings engineering. • Participate in technical evaluations, risk assessments, and mitigation strategy development. • Develop and manage the corrective action plan and critical controls management plan for all TSFs/HLFs. • Ensure conformance to Barrick standards, GISTM, industry best practices, and applicable regulatory requirements. • Ensure facility inspections and reviews are completed • Ensure reclamation requirements are included in facility design
