Job summary Are you looking a Practice Nurse looking for an exciting new opportunity? Park Surgery are looking for an Lead Nurse for 37.5 hours per week. Main Responsibilities: Key Accountabilities Collaborate with the Lead GP and allocated Senior Nurse Manager Provide supervision, support, and advice to frontline staff delivery Nursing services (including Healthcare Assistants, Medical Assistants and Flu Vaccinators) Ensuring an effective and practical induction for new members of the Nursing team Training and development of the Nursing team to ensure that they are competent in all areas of General Practice Nursing. Ensuring all formal training and competency sign offs are well documented and shared with the Practice Manager to keep HR files up to date and compliant with CQC regulations (immunisations for all clinical staff, checking of the levels and documentation) Ongoing mentorship of the Nursing team to support continued development in the form of regular consultation audits and 1:2:1s. Supporting the Nursing team with revalidations locally at practice level and peer to peer across the organisation Supporting the Lead GP/Practice Manager

Main duties of the job The Lead Nurse at Park Surgery is tasked with managing and developing the Nursing team while collaborating with both the Lead GP and Senior Nurse Manager. Essential duties include providing supervision, overseeing inductions, and assuring the Nursing team's competence through training and competency sign-offs. The role requires mentorship and support for continuous development, including conducting consultation audits and 1:2:1s. Additional responsibilities include facilitating appraisals, ensuring compliance with CQC standards, supporting recruitment, and liaising with ICB and NHSE Nurse Leads. The successful applicant must be a UK registered Nurse with at least two years of experience in a general practice setting. Effective management, organisational skills, and understanding of the role and responsibilities of a Lead Nurse are crucial.

Working in collaboration with the Practice Management team to deliver on PHE KPIs e.g. Childhood Immunisations, Cervical Screening, Flu Vaccinations, enhanced services and QOF.

Ensuring CQC compliance standards are met and maintained

Working with the Governance Team to support with internal CQC inspections.

Working with the Practice Manager and GP Lead on recruitment and retention of the Nursing team

Liaising with ICB and NHSE Nurse Lead where appropriate around vaccination hesitancy, reportable incidents etc.

Clinical Leadership

Work collaboratively with line managers to deal with clinical matters and issues arising as a result of clinical practice. Assist with motivation and development activities of the clinical team creating a positive and learning environment. Work closely with all staff members in the organisation, specifically around clinical development issues.

Be actively involved in professional development and maintain a professional profile in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) requirements and other bodies RPCS / HCPC

Ensure that the Nursing team adheres to the rules and the code of conduct of the organisation and their professional body.

Ensure all Nursing staff have an Appraisal and Personal Development plan with identified training needs discussed and agreed. Identify and develop any training needs within the healthcare setting. Including agreed and clear targets.

Act as a positive role model for Nurses through the demonstration of strong clinical knowledge.

Ideal Candidate: Interested? What you will need to be considered:

First Level UK registered Nurse / Registered AHCP with at least 2 years post qualified experience as a general practice nurse

Evidence of continuing professional development

Demonstrates sound evidence of academic links.

Ability to prioritise and manage own workload.

Ability to work as part of a team or on own initiative.

Experience in Primary Care Health settings and managing Nursing teams.

Understanding of the Lead Nurse Role

Effective management and organisational skills

Clear thinking and problem solving and decision-making skills.

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

First Level UK registered Nurse / Registered AHCP with at least 2 years post qualified experience as a general practice nurse. Evidence of continuing professional development is required.
