We're looking for an exceptional and visionary Group Chief Pharmacist to join Practice Plus Group Hospitals on a 2-year fixed term contract (37.5 hours per week).
This is a rare and high-profile opportunity to take on a national, system level leadership role, shaping the future of pharmacy services across one of the UK's leading independent healthcare providers. You'll play a pivotal role during a period of significant organisational transformation, leading the redesign of pharmacy services and supporting the expansion into new clinical specialities including specialist medicine and oncology.
Working at executive level, you'll provide strategic and professional leadership across all sites, ensuring pharmacy is positioned as a key driver of quality, innovation and growth across the organisation.
This is a remote role with regular travel across PPG hospitals and head office.
Main duties of the job
As our Group Chief Pharmacist, you will be:
Leading the development and delivery of a national pharmacy strategy, aligned to organisational transformation and growth ambitions. Taking executive responsibility for the Pharmacy Transformation Programme, redesigning service delivery models across all hospital sites. Providing visible, authoritative leadership to pharmacy teams nationwide, acting as Head of Profession. Ensuring the highest standards of medicines safety, governance and regulatory compliance. Supporting the development and expansion of specialist clinical services, including oncology and complex medicine pathways. Leading on clinical governance, audit, risk management and quality improvement relating to medicines. Driving innovation in pharmacy practice, including digital transformation, EPMA systems and emerging technologies. Building strong relationships with senior stakeholders, regulators and external partners across the healthcare system. Leading workforce strategy, including recruitment, development and succession planning for pharmacy teams. Overseeing pharmacy budgets and contributing to commercial strategy and cost optimisation programmes.
About us
As a registered Pharmacist (GPhC) with significant senior leadership experience, ideally at Deputy Chief Pharmacist level or above, you will also have:
A Master of Pharmacy (or equivalent) Experience of working in a complex or multisite organisation Proven track record of leading largescale transformation programmes Extensive knowledge of medicines optimisation, governance, and UK regulatory frameworks (e.g. CQC, MHRA, NHS) Strong understanding of specialist and highcost medicines, including emerging therapies Excellent strategic thinking, with the ability to influence at Board and executive level A collaborative and inspiring leadership style, with the ability to lead teams across multiple locations Strong financial and commercial awareness, including experience managing budgets and business cases Willingness to travel nationally as required What you can expect in return

Qualifications Essential
Registered Pharmacist (GPhC) with significant senior leadership experience, ideally at Deputy Chief Pharmacist level or above, A Master of Pharmacy (or equivalent). Willingness to travel nationally as required.
