The Senior Assistant Technical Officer (ATO) role offers an excellent opportunity to join a specialist team of aseptic pharmacy professionals.
The successful candidate will work in a pharmacy cleanroom setting to assist in the provision of injectable medicines for patients.We take pride in delivering a safe and quality patient centred service.
A level 2 qualification in Pharmacy Services or Science Manufacturing Process Operative (SMPO) is desirable but not essential as full training will be given. For an unqualified candidate the post will combine practical workplace experience with a Level 2 SMPO training programme where you will achieve a professional qualification.
The SMPO training route will cover:-
How to prepare and maintain the working environment in pharmacy cleanroomsManufacture and assembly of medicinal productsPrinciples of working as a pharmacy professional in technical servicesAseptic principles and practicesThe ideal candidate will be a motivated and dedicated team player. You will communicate clearly and work accurately and efficiently with attention to detail whilst following established procedures. You will demonstrate initiative and be able to work autonomously at times.

Main duties of the job
Aseptic preparation of injectable medicinesDispensingGenerating worksheets and labelsAssembling medicines and equipment ready for preparationConducting in-process accuracy checksMaintenance and monitoring of cleanroom and equipmentStock controlIf you are appointed and do not hold a relevant level 2 qualification you will be offered a Band 2 ATO position with progression to Band 3 Senior ATO upon successful completion of the SMPO course.
