Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes installation, maintenance, operation, and testing of navigational aids, radar, communications and other highly complex electronic equipment; and using precision instruments in the installation and repair of equipment to ensure technical tolerances and safety parameters. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-10). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-10).
Major DutiesDiagnose causes of equipment malfunctions applying advanced electronic theory, system analysis, complex test equipment, schematic and wiring diagrams, formulas and/or theories.Develop and institute procedures to expedite corrective action and ensures continuous operation whenever required.Maintain associated antenna system transmission lines and ground plane networks for communication and navigational aid facilities.Certify ATC and navigational electronic equipment in accordance with applicable regulations and standards.Analyze and evaluate operations to ensure technical system parameters are within technical standards and tolerances.
