Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Basic Requirement: This position requires a typing proficiency of at least 40 words per minute (WPM) based on a 5 minute sample with 3 or fewer errors. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: (1) Operating various computer equipment and application software to research queries and create reports; (2) reviewing visitor applications to determine visitor purpose; and (3) applying law enforcement or national defense data codes to interpret and decipher messages. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS-05. Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent GS-05.
Major DutiesReceives and processes visitors annually for access to the installation's controlled, restricted, and limited areas.Reviews visitor applications, local forms, and/or other documentation to determine purpose of visit or work to be preformed.Operates and performs research queries on the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) workstation terminal(s) in accordance with (IAW) federal and state lawsDetermines the type of identification cards, building badges, or passes to be issued based on visitor application.Operates various computer equipment and application software to research queries and create reports.
