About the role:
General practitioners who have gained their CCT are invited to apply for the posts of Clinical Teaching Fellow in Primary Care within the multi-award winning Undergraduate Primary Care Education Unit, one of the UK’s largest teams of its kind with an exemplary national reputation for curricular innovation in the Department of Primary Care and Public Health, within the School of Public Health of Imperial College London. The Unit oversees all the primary care placements in Phases 1 and 3 of the MBBS programme at Imperial College London.
These are exciting postgraduate training opportunity for those interested in developing a career in medical education to develop their skills as primary care medical educators. At the end of the role, the post holders will have gained a wide range of educational experience and skills which will equip them to move on to further medical education roles.
What you would be doing:
Teach and facilitate on placements managed by the Undergraduate Primary Care Education Unit. Contribute to medical school assessments. This will include constructing questions, performing clinical assessments, and marking coursework and examinations. Contribute to innovative educational projects relating to the undergraduate primary care placements Contribute to curriculum design and the development of existing and new teaching sessions Evaluate placements and teaching innovations. Contribute to peer support and reflective learning including peer to peer observation. Provide reports on teaching, learning and assessment activities as required. Facilitate teaching as required on our TaCTIC (Training Course for Teachers at Imperial College) teaching course for GP tutors Other duties as associated with working in a busy academic department
What we are looking for:
Certificate of Completion of Training in General Practice or equivalent Full registration with the General Medical Council Evidence of teaching experience Interest in undergraduate medical education and a commitment to general practice as a focus and setting for undergraduate learning Good understanding of the organisation of general practice and current developments in primary care Ability to communicate effectively with students, academics, clinicians, administrative staff and external stakeholders Evidence of effective personal time management Ability to work both independently and collaboratively Willingness to design and contribute to curriculum development
