Job summary
Reporting to the Matron and working closely with the Band 7 Hospital Coordinator, operational managers, ward teams, and multidisciplinary staff, the post holder plays a key role in supporting the coordination of patient movement, discharge processes, escalation activity
In addition to operational support responsibilities, the post holder will undertake direct clinical support worker duties to assist clinical teams in maintaining safe patient care across inpatient and emergency pathways. This includes providing high-quality patient care and observations, supporting patient transfers, undertaking ECGs, venepuncture and cannulation where trained and competent, and assisting with other delegated clinical duties in line with Trust policy and competency frameworks.
The Band 3 Patient Flow Clinical Support Worker contributes to maintaining safe and effective operational flow throughout the organisation
Main duties of the job
Where required to support patient flow delivery , accurately and promptly carry out the instructions of the registered professional who is professionally accountable for the delivery of care.
To report any updates from healthcare professionals regarding clinical care (such as investigation, procedures) to Hospital Clinical Coordinator.
Appropriately support patients with routine personal care needs, to support patient flow delivery, including:
- Washing and Showering
- Assisting with dressing and undressing
- Toileting / catheter care / formed stoma care
- Mouthcare / Oral Hygiene
- Assisting patients which require support with eating and drinking.
- Personal grooming for example brushing hair and shaving etc.
Safe transfer and Mobilising of patients line with Trust policy and their individualised care plan.
