About this role

Job summary

This exciting opportunity, which is a 3-day post, situated within the Trauma and Resilience Services, is aimed at recruiting a suitably qualified ACP registered Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist.

Main duties of the job

The Trauma and Resilience Services work across both the Trust and regional footprints and is looking for a creative and adaptable clinician to apply their knowledge and expertise to consultancy, teaching and pathway development.

The successful applicant will have an ability and maturity to work across non-traditional settings to the benefit of survivors and victims and staff who support them. They are able to operate at a senior level, have a capacity to tolerate uncertainty and create solutions in relation to innovative ways of offering services. They will recognise and work to overcome barriers to health inequalities by enhancing mental health services through integrative and neighbourhood approaches to service delivery.

The service offers professional development through in house training and supervision as well as though linking in with external providers.

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

Child and adolescent Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist: Post-graduate training (doctoral level equivalent) . Registered with the Association of Child Psychotherapists. Trained in clinical supervision and the supervision of doctoral trainees. Evidence a commitment to the development of consultancy expertise. Evidence of continuing professional development

Desirable

Evidence of psychodynamic and/or systems training experience. Experience of teaching at a doctoral clinical level and to a wide range of non-clinicians.

Experience Essential

Working as a qualified child and adolescent Psychotherapist, to a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course and a range of clinical severity across a variety of care settings. Exercising full clinical responsibility for clients' care as a care coordinator or leader of a multidisciplinary team. Liaison and joint working with statutory, voluntary and private sector agencies Teaching, training, clinical supervision and field supervisor for doctoral theses. Research and development Active participation in quality and service improvement initiatives. Clinical experience of complex trauma.

Project Management Working in or with the third sector. Organizational consultancy.

Knowledge Essential

Evidence- based practice relevant to the role Risk assessment and risk management Clinical governance Knowledge of legislation in relation to the client group and mental health and its implications for clinical practice. Audit and research methodology Social Inclusion agenda/health inequalities

Desirable

Highly developed knowledge and skills in the care of difficult to treat groups e.g. dual diagnoses, additional disabilities or severely challenging behavior, high risk, co-occurring neurodiversity with trauma. Knowledge of The Trust's Promises

Skills / Abilities Essential

Communicate highly complex, highly sensitive and contentious information effectively, to a wide range of people Adapt creatively the evidence base for interventions in mental health for clients with complex trauma and sexual abuse and assault. Articulate the value added by applied psychology services within the context of multidisciplinary mental health and learning disability healthcare provision. Undertake complex multiagency working and liaise with multiple systems Ability to develop and foster a consultative stance. Utilise psychometric tests competently (if clinical psychologist) Provide effective teaching, training and clinical supervision within a multidisciplinary team. Identify, provide and promote appropriate interventions / means of support for carers and staff exposed to highly distressing situations and challenging behaviors. Utilise appropriate clinical governance mechanisms within own work. Use approved breakaway techniques

High level of capacity for compassion in the face of moral injurious situations whilst maintaining and supporting a boundaried approach to own limitations.
