Job summary
This job is a unique position for a medical post within our NHS inpatient drug and alcohol detoxification unit New Beginnings.
Aspire Doncaster Drug and Alcohol Services provide community and inpatient services.
We are looking for a Trust Grade Doctor wanting to develop a wide range of skills and experience within Addiction Psychiatry. This post is a rare opportunity to work within an inpatient setting.
This full-time post includes 2 sessions of Supporting Programmed Activities (SPAs), enabling the post holder to pursue CPD, service development, management, teaching, or research interests.
The post holder is supported by a full time Addiction Psychiatrist.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for a doctor who demonstrates the following skills.
The ability to complete comprehensive medical assessments including physical examination.
Prescribe a variety of medications related to physical or mental health conditions, the detoxification and for any medical emergencies that arise.
Formulate and review detoxification plans according to the patient's progress.
Be able to respond to manage medical and mental health emergencies related to the detoxification or existing health problems.
Input into twice daily MDT meetings.
Work well within the multidisciplinary team

Qualifications Essential
Full registration with the GMC and license to practice
Experience Essential
oAbility to complete comprehensive assessments and form appropriate treatment plans including mental and physical health issues. oExperience of assessing and managing medical emergencies oExperience of safely prescribing medications for physical and mental health conditions oDemonstrate the ability to concisely, accurately and legibly record appropriate aspects of the clinical assessment and management plan oDemonstrate the ability to work effectively with colleagues, including team working. oMaintaining good medical practice oExperience of teaching, and training
Desirable
oExperience of psychiatric practice in a range of settings. oExperience of treating patients with substance misuse issues.
Skills Essential
All applicants to have demonstrable skills in written and spoken English adequate to enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues demonstrated by one of the following: . That applicants have undertaken undergraduate medical training in English. . Have achieved the scores of 7.5 in the academic International English Language Testing System (IELTS) in a single sitting within 24 months at time of application If applicants believe they have adequate communication skills but do not fit into one of these examples, they must provide supporting evidence.
