We are recruiting for a Neonatal Nurse Team Leaderwho shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.

The Neonatal Nurse Team Leader will provide clinical leadership and deliver safe, high-quality, family-centred care in line with Trust values.

The role involves coordinating the clinical area, supporting staff development, and promoting teamwork, compassion, and excellence.

The post holder will act as a role model, ensuring high standards of care and contributing to continuous improvement. The role includes long days, nights, weekends, and bank holiday working.

Main duties of the job

The Neonatal Nurse Team Leader will provide clinical leadership and expert neonatal care, ensuring safe, evidence-based and family-centred practice.

Coordinate the clinical area, manage staff and resources, and support workforce development through teaching and supervision.

Contribute to service improvement, governance, and patient safety, while maintaining effective communication with families and the multidisciplinary team.

Keep accurate and complete records of activities and communications consistent with legislation, policies and procedures.

Participate in the teaching and supervision of junior team members and students. Actively promote educational development within the unit and service.

Qualifications/Training Essential

RN/RM/RSCN with neonatal intensive care experienceDegree qualification Neonatal professional qualification Evidence of ongoing professional development Intravenous accreditation Achieved full KSF Outline for Band 5

Desirable

Degree qualification Assessing and mentoring qualification NLS provider course

Previous Experience Essential

Proven experience of intensive and high dependency neonatal nursing reflecting evidence based practice. IT Skills. Interest in teaching and supervising of students and junior staff

Desirable

Previous ward management experience. Participation in audits

Skills Essential

Ability to assess, plan, evaluate nursing care Ability to work well in both a team and lead a team. Competent in the care management of sick infants Ability to manage own case load Ability to plan and prioritise work Good verbal and non-verbal communication skills

Knowledge Essential

Ability to care for the sick newborn Understanding the importance of evidence based practice An understanding of the philosophies of current issues in neonatal nursing

Desirable

Understanding of the principles of clinical governance Motivated to learn and develop practices in neonatal care
