Job summary
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated GP to join our clinical team for 4 sessions on a Wednesdsay and Thursday.
The successful candidate will provide primary medical services to our patients, including:
Conducting GP surgeries and patient consultations
Providing appropriate assessment, diagnosis, and management of patients
Undertaking associated clinical administration and record keeping
Contributing to clinical governance and practice meetings
Working collaboratively within our multidisciplinary team
The role will follow an agreed job plan, which will be reviewed annually.
Main duties of the job
The postholder will provide primary medical services to patients registered with Urmston Group Practice, working as part of a supportive multidisciplinary team.
Key responsibilities include:
Undertaking face-to-face, telephone and/or digital consultations with patients.
Assessing, diagnosing and managing a wide range of acute and chronic conditions in line with current clinical guidance.
Prescribing and reviewing medication in accordance with best practice and local prescribing guidelines.
Maintaining accurate and contemporaneous clinical records.
Completing clinical administration associated with patient care, including reviewing results, correspondence and referrals.
Working collaboratively with the wider practice team, including GPs, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, nurses and other allied health professionals.
Participating in clinical governance activities, practice meetings and quality improvement initiatives.
Contributing to the development and delivery of safe, high-quality patient care within the practice and wider Primary Care Network.
Supporting continuity of care for patients and contributing to effective multidisciplinary working.
Maintaining professional development and participating in CPD activities in line with GMC revalidation requirements.

Job SummaryThe postholder will work as part of the clinical team at Urmston Group Practice to provide high-quality primary care services to the practice population of approximately 13,000 patients.
The GP will deliver safe, effective and patient-centred care through consultations, clinical decision making, prescribing, and appropriate referrals. The role involves working collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team, including GPs, nurses, ANPs and allied healthcare professionals.
The successful candidate will contribute to the delivery of primary medical services in accordance with NHS regulations, GMC guidance and practice policies.
Main Duties and ResponsibilitiesClinical ResponsibilitiesProvide face-to-face, telephone and/or digital consultations for patients presenting with a range of acute, chronic and preventative healthcare needs.
Assess, diagnose and manage patients presenting with undifferentiated illness.
Prescribe medications in accordance with current clinical guidelines and local prescribing policies.
Review test results and initiate appropriate follow-up care.
Make appropriate referrals to secondary care and community services.
Undertake home visits where clinically necessary.
Promote health education, prevention and self-care where appropriate.
Maintain accurate, clear and contemporaneous patient records in line with practice policies and medico-legal requirements.
Patient CareDeliver high-quality, safe and evidence-based clinical care.
Manage both acute presentations and long-term conditions as appropriate.
Ensure appropriate continuity of care for patients.
Respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns and follow safeguarding procedures where required.
Administrative ResponsibilitiesComplete associated clinical administration in a timely manner, including:
Reviewing hospital correspondence
Managing laboratory results
Completing referrals
Responding to patient queries
Ensure accurate coding and documentation within the clinical system.
Maintain up-to-date patient records in line with NHS standards.
Multidisciplinary Team WorkingWork collaboratively with the wider practice team including:
GP Partners and Salaried GPs
Advanced Nurse Practitioners
Practice Nurses

Administrative and reception staff
Support the development of integrated patient care pathways with PCN colleagues and community services.
Clinical Governance and Quality ImprovementParticipate in practice meetings and clinical governance activities.
Contribute to quality improvement initiatives within the practice.
Participate in audits, service development and patient safety initiatives where appropriate.
Comply with all relevant practice policies and procedures.
Professional ResponsibilitiesMaintain full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) and inclusion on the NHS Performers List.
Work within the GMCs Good Medical Practice guidelines.
Maintain professional competence and participate in Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
Participate in appraisal and revalidation processes.
Education and TrainingParticipate in mandatory training as required by the practice.
Engage in CPD activities and educational meetings.
Contribute to the learning environment within the practice where appropriate.
The role includes protected CPD time of one week per year (pro rata).
Practice MeetingsThe postholder will be expected to attend and contribute to practice meetings, including those relating to clinical governance and service development.
Where meetings take place outside normal working hours, reasonable notice will be given and appropriate remuneration will be provided in line with practice policy.
Other ResponsibilitiesWork flexibly to meet the needs of the practice and patient population.
Comply with health and safety, safeguarding, confidentiality and information governance policies.
Undertake any other reasonable duties associated with the role of a salaried GP within primary care.

Additional Information
The post is subject to satisfactory DBS clearance and employment checks.
Medical indemnity for NHS work is covered through the Clinical Negligence Scheme for General Practice (CNSGP).
The postholder must maintain appropriate professional registration and indemnity arrangements for any work outside the scope of CNSGP.
Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
MBBS or equivalent medical qualification. Fully registered with the General Medical Council (GMC). Included on the NHS Performers List. Evidence of completion of GP Specialty Training (CCT) or due to obtain CCT prior to commencing the post.
Desirable
Additional postgraduate qualifications relevant to primary care. Evidence of further training or professional development in primary care.
Experience Essential
Up-to-date knowledge of clinical guidelines and best practice in primary care. Experience managing a broad range of acute and chronic conditions. Ability to manage patients with complex needs within primary care. Understanding of safeguarding responsibilities for adults and children.
Desirable
