Kingston Birth Centre is an extremely popular choice for women with a straightforward pregnancy. Amongst the South West London Trusts, our Birth Centre remains open, with consistently high birth numbers and excellent feedback as a testament to our excellent midwifery care and facilities.
The post holder will be responsible for providing clinical excellence and managerial leadership for Community within Kingston & Richmond Maternity Services. To provide women and babies with a high quality, safe midwifery care, throughout the antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal period.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be a highly visible champion of midwifery lead care through demonstration of excellent clinical knowledge and practice.
To provide women and babies with a high quality, safe midwifery care in a variety of practice settings, throughout the antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal period. The care will be evidenced based and holistic in meeting women's individual needs and the midwife will be expected to work autonomously within the guidelines and sphere of professional practice. Act as a mentor and or preceptor as required. To act as a leader and effective role model, providing essential managerial support in complex and sensitive situations.
Kingston is proud of its strong multi-disciplinary (MDT) culture. We provide a well evaluated, in-house MDT programme, and staff have the opportunity to attend external study days or enrol for academic modules at our local higher education institutes.

Qualifications Essential
Registered midwife with current NMC registration and evidence of ongoing education
Desirable
Managerial/Leadership qualifications
Experience Essential
Relevant experience as a band 6 Experience in managing a ward or equivalent area Experience in low and high risk care
Desirable
Experience of managing people and involvement in Clinical Audit. Experience in both hospital and community settings.
Skills Essential
Ability to provide leadership and coordinate effectively within a multi-disciplinary team Demonstrates understanding of role boundaries
Knowledge Essential
Knowledge of statutory regulations governing nursing and midwifery. Knowledge of evidence-based practice and relevant theoretical frameworks.
