About this role

Job summary

An opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and experienced full time Medical Secretary. The post holder will be required to provide a comprehensive secretarial service to the local clinical team. Planning and supporting the assessment pathway, including processing assessment clinics, typing clinic letters, recording clinical data and creating electronic treatment referrals.

The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate a keen eye for detail, have excellent written and oral communication skills, accurate audio and copy typing skills, high level organisational skills.

Main duties of the job

o To provide a comprehensive secretarial service to teams of Consultant Medical Staff and to facilitate effective communication betweenmedical teams for the reading, assessment and onward referral of participants o To actively participate in the planning and implementation of all reading and assessment clinics o To provide non-clinical advice and information over the telephone to service users, their families/carers

Person Specification

Qualifications and Knowledge Essential

Level 4 qualification in secretarial or administrative procedures or equivalent level of knowledge and skills. Knowledge of broad range of medical terminology Excellent command of the English Language with a good standard of literacy and numeracy

Desirable

Knowledge of breast screening Knowledge of National Breast Screening System database

Experience Essential

Previous medical secretary experience. Previous experience of complex data entry and extracting information from clinical documentation.

Desirable

Experience of working within the NHS Experience of working in a specialist breast unit.

Skills and Attributes Essential

Proficient in the use of standard Microsoft software, such as Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Excellent key board skills with touch and audio typing Ability to plan complex diaries and rota's, arranging and supporting meeting and scheduling clinics Ability to demonstrate understanding and application of our workplace values, together with the underpinning behaviours identified for success in this role. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines.
