The Jobholder will play an essential role supporting clinical teams by facilitating education, training and practice development within Abdominal Medicine and Surgery Clinical Service Unit and Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.

It is an exciting time to join our expanding and enthusiastic AMS Clinical educator team. Supporting, educating and developing registered and unregistered staff in their clinical role to deliver high quality evidence-based safe care for all our patients.

One full time post will be providing education/training and support to the Renal specialty team’s including 7 satellite units across different hospital sites. Therefore, experience working within Renal specialty will be required. The 2 other posts will supporting other Multi specialities within AMS CSU.

What you will bring to the role

The Jobholder will play an essential role supporting clinical teams providing and facilitating education, training and practice development within Abdominal Medicine and Surgery CSU.

The job holder will support the assessment of the quality of clinical and other practice learning environments and implement interventions for improvement. Including support for mentors/assessors, clinical professional development for preceptorship and for key trainers. Providing supervision through on-site support and continuous professional development activities.

They will work in collaboration with the senior management team to maintain and project the vision and objectives of the service and ensure that they are embedded in practice. Whilst leading by example, they will be responsible for disseminating and celebrating good practice and actively challenging assumptions, practice and performance where appropriate.

The post holder will be aware of Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust guidelines, policies and structures. Be able to support and assist in Identifying learning needs of individuals and teams and develop learning programmes to ensure these are met, facilitate staff to achieve competencies.

They will maintain and continuously improve own and others specialist knowledge and to routinely plan and deliver teaching session/programmes in a range of settings both formal and informal. Also have an ability to present information to large groups of multi-professionals.

The post holder will be highly motivated and have evidenced knowledge of audit and change management and ideally have been involved in a quality improvement project. Also having the ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines whilst paying attention to detail. Will also have significant post registration experience at staff nurse level or equivalent.
