Job summary

The Senior Clinical Fellowwillbe a valued team member, participating inin-patient and outpatientcare of gastroenterology and general medical patients.Whilst covering the wards the post-holder would be expected to participate in ward-rounds and multi-disciplinary team meetings.

You willwork under the supervision of the Gastroenterology Consultantsand usually be based on thePrestonSite,although you may be asked to cover duties at the Chorley site when required.There will be opportunities to see in-patient Gastroenterology referrals and attend specialist out-patient clinics. When not covering thewardsthe successful applicant would be expected to attend a wider number of speciality clinics as well as endoscopy sessions. The postpermanentand will provide goodtraining in Gastroenterology with exposure to some tertiary specialist services.

Main duties of the job

The gastro SCF will form a key part of the gastroenterology team.Whilst covering the wards the post-holder would be expected to participate in ward-rounds and ward multi-disciplinary team meetings. There are daily Consultant ward rounds providing ample opportunities for teaching and development on a dedicated Gastroenterology ward.

Therearea variable number of outlying medical patients who are shared between existing medical teams. There will be opportunities to see in-patient Gastroenterology referrals and attend specialist out-patient clinics such as Viral Hepatitis, Nutrition and Hepatology. When not covering the wards,the successful applicant would be expected to attend clinics as well as endoscopy sessions. The post will providetraining in Gastroenterology with exposure to some tertiary specialist services.

This will enable you to collect evidence of your experience and the attainment of specific competencies. You will also be provided with an educational supervisor and be encouraged to undertake assessments (SLEs, MSFs etc) in line with speciality trainees. This will be particularly valuable for doctors who may want to join a training program in the future or for those who may want to apply for CESR.

You will receive the full support of the Trust and the Directorate to develop specialist areas of interest in line with Directorate business plans and the development of services generally within the Trust.

Full GMC Registration and Licence to Practice MBChB or equivalent Full MRCP Valid ALS

Experience Essential

At least three years working in hospital medicine following primary medical qualification At least 2 years working in GIM or a medical speciality

Desirable

Completion of core medical training or equivalent Experience in Gastroenterology Computer Literacy Experience of required practical procedures
