Job summary

At Mid Sussex Health Care, we believe in our GPs having a varied and fulfilling role within the practice. There is a focus on:- Providing excellent patient care. We are looking for an enthusiastic, dynamic, highly motivated salaried GP to join our friendly training practice whose dedicated focus is in providing high quality care to its diverse patient population and deliver a full range of services to our local community.

Main duties of the job

Our list size is 22,000 patients and we are looking for an enthusiastic, dynamic, highly motivated salaried GP to join us for a initial fixed term contract until April 2027, for 6 sessions per week. We welcome applications from newly qualified GPs and those longer qualified.

You will be providing a mix of telephone and face to face appointments, with a total triage model, along side clinical admin to include prescription management, pathology, letters etc. We are committed to the BMA safe working guidance. Opportunities to develop specialist interests.

About us

Mid Sussex Health Care is a high performing, innovative, well established training practice. We have achieved a consistent CQC rating of Good in all areas, and rate highly in patient satisfaction surveys. The Practice, which consists of three sites based on local villages is situated in close proximity to the South Downs National Park, Brighton and the coast and there are excellent road and rail connections to Brighton, Crawley, Gatwick and London.

We currently have 12 partners, 2 salaried GP and 13 members in our nursing team. The practice also benefits from pharmacist time through our PCN. All of our clinicians are supported by a well organised and efficient administrative team. Our GP partners are engaged in roles including the PCN (Clinical Directorship), CCG Cancer Leadership, Appraisal, and Education with 3 GP Trainers and 2 FY2 Clinical Supervisors. Salary in keeping with BMA rates subject to experience with defence fees included and NHS Pension 6 sessions per week (to include Friday) based between Hassocks and Hurstpierpoint. Job description Job responsibilities

The post-holder will deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for all registered and temporary patients. In accordance with the Practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make him/her-self available to undertake a variety of duties including, surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, triage, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion for their patient list and in support of colleagues patients during times of absence. Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness In consultation with patients and in line with current Practice disease management protocols, developing care plans for health Completion of clinically related administrative and non clinical duties need for the delivery of the service Providing counselling and health education Admitting or discharging patients to and from the caseload and referring to other care providers as appropriate Refer patients for further opinions and interventions according to practice protocols Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand-written prescriptions whenever possible) Prescribing in accordance with the Practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate In general the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care. Process and action incoming patient and hospital correspondence Undertake private medicals as required
