Job summary The Surgical Division at The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust is seeking a Complex Booking Officer on a permanent basis.
The successful candidate will work within a multidisciplinary team with clinical and non-clinical staff in accordance with the trusts policies and procedures booking patients in for procedures and appointments under Surgery division.
Main duties of the job Manage the waiting list of Consultant Surgeons within specialties operating at The Princess Alexandra Hospital, in accordance with Government Access standards and Trusts Patient Access Policy. Ensuring efficient and effective use of Main theatre and ADSU sessions. Responsible for organizing admissions and associated pre-operative assessment clinics and theatre lists. Exercise initiative and use independent judgment and analysis to book patients, dependent on their clinical needs and agreed template case mix. Responsible for decision-making To manage the waiting list of Consultant Surgeons using ALEXHEALTH and other relevant electronic booking system, Responsible for the addition, removal from waiting list, and recording of all relevant patient information to and from the waiting list. Monitor the Patient Target List (PTL) on a daily basis to ensure Government Access standards are not breached and take appropriate action to resolve any capacity issues. To coordinate surgeons theatre lists, including selecting appropriate case mix in clinical/chronological order and with appropriate attention to the medical requirements for the procedures.

Qualifications Essential
Educated to GCSE level 2 standard in English and Maths or equivalent experience. NVQ3 level or equivalent administration experience ECDL or equivalent experience
Experience Essential
Previous recent clerical experience Good understanding of data systems Experience in handling confidential and sensitive data Ability to work with absolute confidentiality Experience and knowledge of PAS and equivalent electronic booking system Microsoft Word, Outlook experience Previous experience of working in a team Able to use own initiative Ability to manage own workload and work independently, with supervision as necessary. Ability to learn cross cover skills for colleagues Enjoy working in a very busy environment
Desirable
Experience of booking patients in line with National and Trust waiting time standards Experience and knowledge of more than one electronic booking system currently used by the Trust. Good working knowledge and experience of 18 weeks RTT and diagnostic targets Previous experience within an admission function dept in the NHS Previous knowledge of ORMIS
