About this role

Job summary The Radiology department at the Princess Alexandra Hospital is actively seeking to recruit a Locum Consultant Radiologist with a sub-specialty interest in Chest Imaging (any other specialities will be considered). This position will consist of 10 PAs per week, with an additional PA for on-call commitments.

You will support a busy and diverse Imaging service, with a scope to further develop the appointees area of special interest.

This is a position required to support the Radiology service at the Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust (PAHT) and have an interest in Chest Imaging, pursuing opportunities to expand the Chest service (any other specialities will be considered).

You will be based primarily at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Harlow, but may be asked to work at any of the other 2 sites that make up the Trust, St. Margarets in Epping and Herts & Essex in Bishops Stortford.

If successful, you will take part in multi-disciplinary meetings and participate in teaching Radiology registrars.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Provide expert clinical care in Radiology, including outpatient, inpatient, community and on-call services.

Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and case discussions in hospital and community settings.

Contribute to the development and implementation of integrated clinical guidelines and protocols.

Supervise and support resident medical staff.

Engage in clinical audit, quality improvement, and research activities.

Participate in clinical governance and risk management.

Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.

Collaborate with colleagues across departments and external partners.

Teaching and training

• Provide teaching and mentorship to medical students, resident doctors, nurses and allied health professionals.

• Participate in postgraduate education and training programmes.

Research and innovation

Support or lead research within the department.

Contribute to publications and presentations at professional conferences.

Management and leadership

Participate in departmental meetings and service planning.

Contribute to workforce planning and service redesign initiatives.

Take on leadership roles as appropriate within the department or Trust.

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

GMC registration with a licence to practise.

Desirable

CCT (or equivalent) in relevant specialty or within 6 months of achieving Subspecialty training aligned with service needs Higher degree (e.g., MD, PhD) or additional postgraduate qualifications

Experience Essential

Broad and relevant clinical experience in the specialty Experience in teaching and supervising resident doctors and medical students Participation in clinical audit and quality improvement

Desirable

Experience in service development or redesign Experience in curriculum development or educational leadership
